Christian College of Engineering and Technology

The growing need for an engineering college expressed by local people and well wishers inspired Dr Jacob Cherian to start an Engineering College in 2001. Several Engineering colleges mushroomed across Tamil Nadu in the following year, most of them with a commercial intent. Dr Cherian realized that running an Engineering College was a financial challenge. However, he remained committed to the purpose and poured out the limited resources available to the successful running of the College. The College soon received affiliation to the Anna University and approval from the AICTE. Like every other project, the miracle-working hand of God was upon this Project too. Miraculously, critical tasks like building construction, purchase of important yet costly equipment, and maintenance of sufficient staff were carried out smoothly.

Dr Cherian had four objectives regarding CCET – first, to mold students in Christian ethics, second, that the college would become self-supporting, third, that the college would become useful to the hundreds of young people in the rural areas around the campus, and finally that our engineers would become men and women of character, who would resist evil practices.

As CCET celebrates 25 years, we continue to walk in the path shown by Dr Cherian, and work towards fulfilling his objectives to the College. CCET has become one of the most respected colleges in the District, and continues to take strides to achieve national prominence in every area of its existence.
