Christian Polytechnic College
The lack of technical education in the area, and growing unemployment among SSLC Candidates were reasons for the launch of a Polytechnic College at Ambilikkai in the land next to the Hospital campus. The Christian Polytechnic College was started without an experienced Principal or teachers and offered admissions in 4 branches. With the passage of time, Vincent Wilson, ME, a capable Principal , and experienced teachers from Tamil Nadu joined the Institution. As years rolled by, the Polytechnic was shifted to a beautiful permanent, three-storied, properly planned building at the foot of the Kodaikanal range of hills at Oddanchatram.
The admissions started decreasing as a few Industrialists started new Polytechnic Colleges in and around Dindigul. Late admissions ensured that seats were always filled, though slowly at times.
The Institution received permanent recognition from the AICTE, New Delhi. A few years after it was started, the Polytechnic College was formerly inaugurated by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Dr Fathima Beevi on 10 th February 2000. After obtaining permission from the Industrial Training and Employment Board, New Delhi, and ITI was started within the premises of the Christian Polytechnic College at Oddanchatram.
41 years after its launch, the Christian Polytechnic College has emerged as a premier technical Institution in South India. With an enviable 100% placement record, and an ever growing number of MOU’s signed with major Industrial Organizations, the Institution is positioned to climb greater heights in the years to come.
